For Washington being a thoroughly liberal-leaning state, why is gender pay so bad?

A new study from the American Association of University Women finds Washington State ranks among the worst in the nation for the gender pay gap.

Women in Washington make 78-cents on the dollar compared to men...that ranks the Evergreen State 35th in the nation. While the gap hasn't grown in recent years, progress has slowed down.

California and Washington, D.C. are tied at the top of the list, where the pay gap is 89-cents on the dollar.

The Seattle Times reports that, if the current trend in Washington state continues, pay equality won't be reached until 2059 at the earliest...perhaps not until 2106.
