Why Seattle elections matter to everyone in WA living outside Seattle

King Co. Election drop box

KVI’s John Carlson interviews  former TV news reporter for Fox13 Seattle and current host of the unDivided Podcast, Brandi Kruse, about the outcome of Seattle City Council elections and what that means for Seattle residents when the winning candidates are sworn into office in January 2024. Kruse says Seattle voters have eliminated flip-flopping candidates from the council like lame ducks, Andrew Lewis and Lisa Herbold, concluding “if you’re anti-police just be anti-police so it’s predictable. But when you flip-flop all over the place, your constituents don’t know what they’re getting from you.”

Kshama Sawant’s departure from the City Council in January–after she decided against running for re-election this year–prompts the question about what happens to her “mob” that packs mid-day council hearings to antagonize opponents. What the council elections mean for Mayor Bruce Harrell. Lastly, Carlson and Kruse discuss the “character assassination” that influenced the Snohomish County Sheriff’s election.
