“It never hurts to have smart people in charge”, U.S. Senator, Jim Jordan (R-OH), tells KVI about the selection of fellow Ohio Senator, J.D. Vance as the vice-presidential running mate of Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
Speaking to KVI’s John Carlson at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sen. Jordan says “J.D. is just a sharp guy but…has those basic values and principles that make our country special. I think it was a great pick by President Trump.”

Jordan adds to his explanation about Vance, “I think the key is it’s the American story. A kid from humble beginnings is now on the ticket”, to potentially be elected Vice President of the United States.
Additionally, John Carlson shares his perspective about why Vance can help bolster the Trump campaign for 2024. “Vance has had a fascinating life”, Carlson notes. Growing up in the Appalachia corner of south east Ohio, Vance became notable for penning the auto-biography of his youth in the book-turned-Netflix movie “Hillbilly Ellegy” starring Amy Adams and directed by Ron Howard.
“His life was tough” says Carlson about Vance. “He wanted to go to college–no way he could afford to go to college. No way anyone in his family could send him to college. So he did what a lot of young people do, he enlisted in the Marines”, says Carlson.
