Reality emerges for Democrats as Chicago convention closes

COMMENTARY: some random thoughts on Friday morning from KVI morning show producer, Phil Vandervort.

Two revealing moments as the curtain closes on the Democratic Party National Convention in Chicago.  Click the play button in the embedded posts below to hear and see what happened in Chicago.

First, a former Donald Trump spokesperson, Steve Cortes, tries to bring an undocumented immigrant–an illegal alien from Venezuela–into the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago. But when the young Venezuelan gets to the security perimeter check-point near the United Center, his entry is denied for lack of…checks notes…valid identification.

Cortes’s gonzo journalism shows that (border) security appears to be very important for Democrats at their Chicago event, but not as important (or potentially not important at all) at the U.S. border with a neighboring country.

Meanwhile, a group of CNN anchors and reporters spoke on-air about the lack of policy specifics coming from Vice-President Kamala Harris’s Presidential campaign. The CNN reporter, Manu Raju, interviewed several Congressional Democrats who say Harris doesn’t need to tell voters any specifics on any issues. Harris just needs “vision”.

Style is more important than substance–facade is more important than foundation–according to these CNN hosts and the Congressional Democrats who were interviewed about the 2024 Presidential election. Less is apparently more for the supporters of Kamala Harris’s Presidential election campaign.

The reality seems to indicate that Democrats simply don’t want to face facts when it comes to border security and the status of undocumented illegal aliens or the top of the ticket having command and control of a coherent agenda to sway undecided voters.

That’s a wrap on Chicago. If you want to hear John Carlson’s response to the big moments from Harris’s nomination acceptance speech, click the play button below.

Now on to the Harris/Trump debate set for September 10th.

Phil Vandervort is the KVI morning show producer for The Commute With Carlson, hosted by John Carlson, and he speaks for nobody but himself.
