Abortion and public safety top the WA Governor’s debate in Spokane

Dave Reichert, 2006

In the second debate for Washington Governor, Republican, Dave Reichert, and Democrat, Bob Ferguson, were allowed to ask each other questions before the statewide audience. Those direct questions revolved around abortion access and the source of Washington’s crime, public safety and drug addiction problems regarding fentanyl.

KVI’s John Carlson says of those opponent questions, “I think that’s when the momentum in the debate certainly changed. (And) Maybe the (general election) race as well.”

Reichert tells KVI of his debate performance last night in Spokane, “I was trying to express the frustration of just about every Washingtonian in this state. I’m fed up and you can tell. I’m fed up with the lack of leadership. You can tell, I’m absolutely disgusted with his (Ferguson’s) response.”

So far there is no agreement between the Reichert and Ferguson campaigns to hold a 3rd debate before the November 5th General Election.
