The historically destructive Los Angeles firestorm this week has simultaneously sparked a debate about what could have been done differently to prevent the unprecedented destruction.
Conservatives are blaming elected officials for failing to prepare. Liberals are blaming climate change.
University of Washington Atmospheric Sciences Professor, Cliff Mass, addressed the debate on KVI with host John Carlson telling listeners, there’s “no indication climate change has anything to do” with the devastation this week.
Mass added, “Down there in California they appear to have a significant water problem–water pressure failed when they needed it the most–so that’s a management problem.”

Mass tells KVI, “The question is, ‘what started the fires’? That’s what we need to understand how exactly what caused the fire. But it is very problematic that they did not shut off all the power (to power lines).”
The John Carlson Show is heard weekday mornings from 6-9 on Talk Radio 570 KVI and 101.5 FM HD3.
