An EV subsidy program in Washington to reimburse battery powered car buyers ended up costing taxpayers $45 million for fractionally cutting CO2 (carbon) emissions, according to The Washington Policy Center’s (WPC) environmental policy director, Todd Myers.
Myers tells KVI host, John Carlson, “The EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) has a calculator that the state used, that the reduction in CO2 emissions amounted to 0.03% of statewide transportation emissions for a year…and we spent $45 million.”
Myers concludes, “it’s like spending $2072 for a latte”.

“This was a program last year–$45 million–to help…people buy electric vehicles and reduce CO2 emissions,” Myers states, “So we (WPC) pulled all the data from state registration records to see what actually happened and it will not surprise you that the program fell fall short of what was promised. And it turns out to be incredibly wasteful.”
