A King County Superior Court judge has ruled I-2066, a voter approved statewide initiative, is un-Constitutional after voters approved it on the November, 5, 2024 ballot with 51.7% support.
I-2066 supporter and Washington State Republican Party chair, Jim Walsh, spoke to KVI’s Commute With Carlson substitute host, Phil Vandervort, about the court ruling which now nullifies the public vote. To hear the interview, click the play button below.
I-2066 asked voters to over-turn HB1589, a law signed by Gov. Jay Inslee in 2024, which banned natural gas service in new building, business and home construction.
Walsh tells KVI that Judge Sandra Widlan, in, “the opinion that she offered on Friday is really based almost word for word on a letter that a group called The Pacifica Law Group, which is a left-wing activist law firm in Seattle, had sent to the State Attorney General right after Initiative 2066 passed last fall. And that’s kind of surprising because usually they’ll change up some the lingo language a little bit–the judge–to seem independent, but this woman (judge) just really almost verbatim repeated what this Pacifica Law Group said in its letter that was the first step in challenging the initiative.”
The Commute With Carlson is heard weekday mornings from 6-9 am on Talk Radio 570 KVI and 101.5 FM HD 3.
