KVI’s Kirby Wilbur and Phil Vandervort examine the push for an Interstate-5 lid to cover the freeway lanes north of the Seattle Convention Center. The plan that could cost between $1-$2.5 billion would create a large park and/or subsidized housing is intended to connect the Capitol Hill neighborhood to the South Lake Union neighborhood currently divided by I-5. According to KIRO 7 News, the Seattle City Council’s Public Assets and Homeless Committee voted to approve Resolution 32100, which supports the development of lids across I-5. The vote was 3-0 with two abstentions.
