Seattle progressives are cheering a new folk-hero being described as “green jacket lady”.
The woman at the heart of this story was interviewed by a Fox News street reporter about crime problems in Seattle. The woman either intended to troll the Fox News reporter by refusing to acknowledge his public safety premise about Seattle or perhaps she’s being willfully obtuse in an effort to avoid recognition that Seattle’s crime problems have grown in myriad ways over the last 10-20 years.

The only downside to the glorification of “green jacket lady’s” quips to the Fox News minion are the refusal of Seattle progressives to see the obvious level of pain on both sides of the public safety equation. Seattle progressives blindly ignore that there’s a problem as small groups of activists (Mutual Aid, Stop the Sweeps) enable the drug addicted homeless and perpetuate the human suffering of existing on the street. Seattle progressives frequently talk about protecting the most vulnerable among us when it comes to public policy but that concern instantly ends when it applies to the vulnerability of drug addicted homeless being subject to other criminal violations from cohorts on the street.
The alternate side of that coin is the never ending evidence and stories of non-homeless residents who have had cars smashed, property stolen, bikes stolen, work tools stolen and all the businesses have that have been burglarized and damaged by addicts stealing to feed a drug addiction or organized retail theft that is utilizing the shadows of Seattle society to victimize employers.
“Green jacket lady’s” comments are a Rohrshach test for Puget Sound residents who either take her sarcastic words for gospel truth or have enough sympathy for the suffering and crime the city is facing to realize she’s a Pollyanna.
