KVI’s Ari Hoffman interviews State Senate Republican Leader, John Braun (R-Centralia), sponsor of SB 5851 which would require Holocaust and genocide education for Washington public school students. Braun tells Hoffman, “As we look around our state, around the country and frankly around the world, (with) the growth in anti-Semitism…its become obvious that young folks today are not getting the type of education they need. And frankly the Holocaust (is) tragic, but also a great historical opportunity to teach folks what happens when you allow hate and anti-Semitism to build and you leave it (to) go un-checked.”

SB 5851 has several Republican and Democratic co-sponsors and is due for a public hearing in the Senate Committee on Early Learning & K-12 Education at 10:30 am Thursday, Jan. 18th.
