Eight months ago, KVI listener Dave in Centralia, was noticing that different news outlets would report drastically different information about the same story. Think CNN versus Fox News, Dave tells KVI’s John Carlson.
Eight months ago, Dave says he was not a KVI listener. But he remembered a former boss who had mentioned listening to Rush Limbaugh years ago.
So Dave says, he started looking around at other places to get news and one morning he tuned to KVI. He heard the John Carlson show.
Dave wrote to KVI this week about his experience over the last 8 months and you can read his e-mail below. But after receiving Dave’s e-mail, KVI’s John Carlson reached out for an interview with Dave to hear about this search for greater context with the news–particularly political news stories.

Here’s the e-mail that was sent to KVI:
Hello KVI,
One day during my routine workday as a truck driver I had finally had enough of the classic rock station I listened to and it’s choice to run mainstream news updates. At that point I did not listen to conservative talk radio but the news updates just did not sound right to me anymore, so I decided I’d had enough of that news and decided to switch over to AM since I remember that a former boss of mine had always listened to this Rush guy back in the day. I just started surfing around and 570 KVI came into tune and the (John) Carlson show was on.
Fast forward to today….
I have volunteered to the LetsGo WA campaign, donated to Trump, Reichert, Kent and Cruz campaigns. I have about 15 large and small conservative political signs posted on my I-5 frontage property in Lewis county….I collected signatures for an initiative that is now on the state 2024 ballot…I show up for rallies, town halls and ‘sign waving’ events….inspired my entire family to be informed of the importance of preserving individual free speech and the integrity of the US Constitution…
I have a daughter who just turned 18 this month and has voted for the first time and voted early and hand delivered her ballot to county Auditor drop-box and understands why this is important. She has helped her boyfriend, his family, and her friends to understand the issues and the importance of voting.
I begin to tear as I write this as I have not yet stepped back and taken account of these developments that came to be, because one morning I felt what I was hearing from the media did not sound like–or feel like–the truth to me.
I felt compelled this morning to share these thoughts with anyone who might hear them and may be feeling the weight of daily life as a conservative living in a majority blue state and experiencing so many views that don’t feel like they are based in truth, justice and common sense. I assure them that they are not alone!
