It's the 80th anniversary of the day Allied forces stormed the beach at Normandy, launching a combined naval, air and land assault on Nazi-occupied France during World War II.
To commemorate that day of heroism, we opened the phone lines to hear stories of family members who served during WWII, including some veterans whose stories were chronicled in Band of Brothers, Stalag 17, Flags of Our Fathers, and more. Others are local heroes of note. Almost two hours of stories!
