Pierce County Sheriff's deputies arrested a suspected carjacker who beat the 18-year-old owner from Graham, Washington so badly it put the victim in a coma. The carjacking occurred when the young owner and his grandfather met the suspect to sell an Audi sedan they had listed on the website OfferUp.

So far the Sheriff's Department hasn't released any more details about the arrest.

KOMO News reported on the original crime on Dec. 29th, last year. The 18-year-old and his grandfather arranged to meet the prospective car buyer at a public place to discuss the sale. They met at a Safeway grocery store in Graham.

We're awaiting more information from law enforcement as well as the medical status of Xavier Gamez.
