USO Northwest Veterans Day Flag Dedication Ceremony

In front of a crowd of 200 patriots, we partnered with Flag A' Flying, USO Northwest, and the Ira L. Cater Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #318, for very moving Veteran's Day event to honor our local area veterans. The ceremony took place at VFW Post #318 in Olympia. In a tearful ceremony, the American flags were presented by Eagle Scout Dylan Kitchings and accepted by 21 active duty, retired or disabled combat veterans. These flags were accepted in honor of fallen comrade that had served previously with these combat veterans.

Highlighting the event, Army Specialist Blake Woodhouse received a flag in memory of his fellow Soldier and roommate, Sergeant Juan Navarro, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan in July 2012. Navarro was assigned to 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, and 2nd Infantry Division when he was attacked by enemy forces. The flag will be permanently displayed at Sergeant Navarro's unit on Joint Base Lewis McChord.

What an honor to be part of a memorable ceremony.
